Chapter 470 — Private Property

The Blossom Guardian

"No—no, it's fine!" Feng Xiaoxiao said. Naturally, she would not care about a fine that small.

Wei Zhao nodded, then said, "Sit tight. Buckle up."

At first Feng Xiaoxiao had rather turned up her nose at the idea of Wei Zhao making her buckle up inside the city, but the very next moment she understood how lucky she was to have done so.

Feng Xiaoxiao had been driving for a long time, yet she had never discovered that an Audi T could perform like this, which made her feel she had been wasting the car all along.

Inside the city, Wei Zhao threaded through every gap and tore along at full tilt, not only turning a blind eye to the red lights, but even pretending not to see the traffic police signaling him to pull over.

"That's incredible!" Feng Xiaoxiao was beside herself. "Why can't I drive like that? Even the cops can't stop you!"

"I'm on my way to save someone. You're just bored and racing for the thrill. It's not the same thing." Wei Zhao said flatly, then glanced at the rearview mirror. Two police cars had actually fallen in behind them.

Wei Zhao was a little speechless. But then he supposed that what he had just done was probably no different from street racing, and it was only natural that it had drawn police cars.

"Wow, there are even police cars chasing us. Wei Zhao, shake them off, quick!" Feng Xiaoxiao showed not the slightest fear; she was even more excited. "I've only ever seen this kind of thing in Top Speed before."

Wei Zhao rolled his eyes. He had long guessed that Feng Xiaoxiao's background was out of the ordinary. The way she could transfer from one high school to another at will showed just how much power stood behind her, so her indifference to being chased by police cars was understandable.

But Wei Zhao did not want trouble. His first priority was saving someone, not playing cat and mouse with police cars. "What's your plate number?"

"Song A-BQ... why?" Feng Xiaoxiao asked instinctively.

"Damn," Wei Zhao thought to himself, "your plate's a special one. 'Feng Xiao, I love you'?" But it also proved indirectly that Feng Xiaoxiao's family really was no ordinary one. A plate like that was far harder to come by than one ending in three 8s or three 6s.

But Wei Zhao said no more. He took out his phone and dialed Qiu Lingshan's number.

Qiu Lingshan had not been home for several days, staying at the police station the whole time, organizing experts to analyze what clues remained in the organ-trafficking case.

Seeing Wei Zhao's call, she thought he had a lead, and hurriedly picked up.

"Brain-dead girl, my plate number is Song A-BQ. There are police cars chasing me. Tell them to stop." Wei Zhao hung up before Qiu Lingshan could say a word.

"Huh?" Qiu Lingshan held the phone blankly, and then her face clouded with anger. This Wei Zhao! He actually dared to order her around? The next time she saw him, she would beat his face into a mass of lumps!

Annoyed as she was, Qiu Lingshan did not dare offend Wei Zhao. Fuming, she dialed the traffic police and told them that Song A-BQ was on official business, and that they were to stop the pursuit.

Sure enough, not long after Wei Zhao made the call, the police cars behind them disappeared one after another, and when they passed the traffic booths, no police moved to block them again.

"Wei Zhao, you're amazing! One phone call and it's settled?" Feng Xiaoxiao's eyes went wide with astonishment. She had connections too, but she could never have made every cop in the city turn a blind eye with a single call!

"I'm in a hurry to save someone." Wei Zhao said mildly. "Don't lump me together with a spoiled rich girl like you."

"Hehe, whatever. You're still really cool!" Feng Xiaoxiao waved her fist excitedly. "Oh, right — who's the brain-dead girl?"

"A friend of mine," Wei Zhao said.

"Then why do you call her brain-dead girl? Is she brain-dead?" Feng Xiaoxiao asked, puzzled.

"It's my pet name for her." Wei Zhao explained, a little helplessly. That nickname really was hard to explain to anyone else.

"Then give me a pet name too, why don't you?" Feng Xiaoxiao felt that anyone Wei Zhao gave a pet name to must be very close to him. Otherwise, why would one phone call from him get things done on the other end?

Wei Zhao was about to go mad. Was there anyone in this world who actually asked to be given a nickname? Wei Zhao ignored her and shut his mouth. He had noticed that Feng Xiaoxiao was the sort who, given a little sunshine, would blaze with brilliance, and given a little flood, would overflow the banks. The more he said to her, the more trouble she stirred up, so this time Wei Zhao simply stopped talking.

Seeing that Wei Zhao was ignoring her, Feng Xiaoxiao looked out the window, a little aggrieved.

When they were nearing Dunmeng Street, Wei Zhao's phone buzzed twice. A text message had arrived.

"Boss, I couldn't wait any longer. I've gone in ahead. I'm afraid they'll do something to Xiaofen!"

The message was from Kang Zhaoming. Wei Zhao frowned. This Kang Zhaoming still had not held himself back; he had actually gone alone into the tiger's den. Wasn't that just making a mess of things?

But Wei Zhao understood how Kang Zhaoming felt. At a time like this, anyone whose beloved had been taken would be unable to hold back.

Wei Zhao called Kang Zhaoming, and sure enough, the other end gave the tone of a switched-off phone. It seemed Kang Zhaoming had made up his mind.

Near No. 7B on Dunmeng Street there was only one large compound resembling a factory. After Wei Zhao drove closer, he found no other buildings. This was already the outskirts of the city; apart from wasteland, buildings appeared only at long intervals.

"Who goes there!" Wei Zhao had barely driven up to the gate of the compound when two burly men came out of the yard and blocked his way.

"Tourists," Wei Zhao said, putting on a slightly frightened look, while in his heart he was calculating. The security here was tight. By any measure, this did not look like something Kang Zhaoming had put together.

If Kang Zhaoming only wanted to catch Xiaofen for revenge or to vent his anger, he could never have thrown together such a tightly guarded, heavily defended place on the spur of the moment. Could it be a different group of people?

What puzzled Wei Zhao was this: what did these people want with Xiaofen? Xiaofen should not have offended anyone.

"This is private property. Don't be poking around here. Get lost, now!" The burly man glanced at Wei Zhao's car, saw that it was a sports car with a man and a woman inside, and took them for a couple out for a drive. So he paid them no further mind, and waved impatiently for them to clear off.

"Oh... right, sorry about that!" Wei Zhao started the car, as if about to back up, then suddenly slammed down on the accelerator and drove straight at the two burly men.

Bang—bang—two loud thuds, and the two men were sent flying. They landed on the ground with blood bubbling from their mouths, unconscious.

"Ah!" Feng Xiaoxiao screamed, stunned. She had played wild enough in her day, often extorting and beating people up, and she even dared to stab people with a knife, but for Wei Zhao to run someone down with a car without a second word left her too shocked to speak.
