Chapter 719 — Keeping Him Alive Is No Problem

The Blossom Guardian

"It arrived?" Tang Yun was startled for a moment, then said, "It's not a scam — it's the medical fee Wei Zhao demanded from the people at Qibing Real Estate."

"What? A medical fee Wei Zhao asked for? Then it's real?" Mother Tang was overjoyed. "I'll go to the bank and check right now — I've never laid eyes on that much money in my whole life!"

Mother Tang was beaming. She had been agonizing over buying a house tomorrow, and now three million had dropped into her lap — enough for any house she pleased! Wei Zhao really was something. He had broken Zhao Qibing's leg, and instead of the other side coming after him for medical fees, he had gone and collected three million first! Old Tang's broken leg had been worth it after all!

"Mm..." Tang Yun said nothing more and hung up.

Tang Yun was not afraid of Gu Mengyao finding out that her family was poor, but she was afraid of them finding out how greedy her mother was — they would surely laugh.

Not long after Tang Yun took her call, Wei Zhao received one from Li Cihua.

"Wei Zhao, I've wired the money to the account you gave me. When can you save my cousin?" Li Cihua said bluntly. Between him and Wei Zhao it was purely a matter of interests; no pleasantries were needed.

"Oh, I'll tell you how to save him, and you can handle the rest yourself." Wei Zhao spoke casually. "Find any surgeon. Using a two-centimeter radius around the silver needle, cut away the flesh, needle and all, and that will solve it."

"What!? Cut away the flesh?!" Li Cihua's eyes went wide. "Are you playing me?"

"I wouldn't play you for three million." Wei Zhao said mildly. "Tell the skilled physician at your side what I said, and he'll know whether I'm right. I don't have time to dawdle with you — this is the only way to keep your cousin alive!"

"Fine, I'll trust you for now!" Li Cihua drew a deep breath and suppressed his anger.

Wei Zhao paid him no mind and hung up, which left Li Cihua thoroughly sullen. It had been a long time since he had been disregarded like that; even the Zhao family would not look down on him so.

But Li Cihua had no way to settle scores with Wei Zhao. He had wanted to kill Wei Zhao for more than a day or two — as long as he had not managed it, he would have to endure.

Li Cihua did not dare delay either, and repeated Wei Zhao's words to the Medicine King. To his surprise, the Medicine King slapped his own forehead and cried out, "Why didn't I think of that! If this true qi is so hard to remove, then simply gouging it out and throwing it away is even better, isn't it? So simple..."

Seeing the Medicine King's reaction, Li Cihua was visibly taken aback. "So... Wei Zhao's method is workable?"

"It's workable, and it's the only way to save Li Dilei right now. He'll suffer some, but keeping his life is no problem." said the Medicine King.

"Could it be that Wei Zhao knows another way and won't say, deliberately giving us such a cruel method?" Li Cihua was somewhat suspicious. In his view, if Wei Zhao had something good to offer he would surely keep it to himself — anything he did say would be a dirty trick.

"That's unlikely. After all, once that kind of true qi is expelled, taking it back costs enormous effort. Even if Wei Zhao could do it, he wouldn't lower his own strength for three million!" The Medicine King shook his head. "Besides, Wei Zhao's strength probably hasn't fully recovered yet — he's only a little stronger than Mr. Zhu. He couldn't risk his life to treat Li Dilei! Never mind three million — not even three hundred million would do it!"

Hearing the Medicine King's explanation, Li Cihua felt much better. Since there was a solution, best to settle it quickly...

When Shen Yushu heard the solution Wei Zhao had given Li Cihua, she laughed herself half to death. She felt she and Arrow-Brand Bro were truly fated — both equally wicked, tormenting people without batting an eye! At this rate, Li Dilei would probably end up riddled with holes.

Gu Mengyao and Tang Yun also found it satisfying. As long as no one was killed, punishing Li Dilei was only right!

Wei Zhao parked the car in front of the night market street. As he parked, he noticed several modified sports cars — Hyundai Coupes, Geely Beauty Leopards and the like. He paused slightly; these were probably the same people he had run into last time, when Feng Xiaoxiao had still been among them. Now a familiar figure was missing.

He wondered what Feng Xiaoxiao had gone to Yanjing City for, and why she still had not come back. When she was around, Wei Zhao had found her annoying, but now that she was gone and he suddenly had no deskmate, he missed her. He had promised to treat her to a meal, after all.

When those people saw Wei Zhao's Beetle, they paid it little attention. It was no sports car, and they had no interest in racing him. Clearly they had forgotten Wei Zhao.

Wei Zhao and Tang Yun walked behind; the young miss and Shen Yushu walked in front. The four of them entered the night market street.

As for the street-stall goods in the night market, Gu Mengyao and Shen Yushu had never bought any before. In the past when they came here they headed straight for the snack street and never lingered, so today, seeing it all, they found it novel and lively.

"The clothes here are so pretty! Just like the newest Hong Kong and Taiwan styles you see online — the shops don't even sell them!" Shen Yushu looked curiously at the clothes on the stall.

"They're all knockoffs, the quality's far worse, and the price is only a tenth or even a hundredth of the real thing." Seeing Shen Yushu so delighted, as if she had found treasure, Tang Yun explained, afraid she would be cheated.

"Is that so? Yaoyao, why don't we buy a couple of pieces? Even if they're stall goods, people will think we bought the real thing." Shen Yushu said.

Tang Yun sighed inwardly. It was true: even if Gu Mengyao and Shen Yushu wore ten-yuan stall clothes, no one would believe they came from a stall; but even if she wore the genuine article, people would probably take it for a knockoff.

"Then let's take a look..." Gu Mengyao was a little tempted too; after all, many of the styles were quite novel.

The four of them came to a stall that looked decent in quality. Tang Yun picked out a pair of shorts for herself, while Gu Mengyao and Shen Yushu each chose a pair of shorts and a T-shirt. They asked the price: three hundred yuan in total.

The young miss and Shen Yushu had no idea what such things were really worth, and Tang Yun was not much good at haggling, so the task naturally fell to Wei Zhao.

"Can't you make it cheaper?" Wei Zhao asked the owner.

"Two hundred eighty is the lowest." The owner had also seen that Gu Mengyao and Shen Yushu were rich, so he did not drop the price much.

"How much? Two hundred, right?" Wei Zhao repeated, neatly converting the owner's trailing "eighty" into the word "right," and went on: "Two hundred's too expensive. One hundred fifty."
