Chapter 5061 — A Few Questions

The Blossom Guardian

Senior Brother Yin immediately commanded the three blood spirit cats to attack together. The room was only so large; in his view, no matter how fast Wei Zhao's movement technique was, there was no way to evade. Unexpectedly, Wei Zhao suddenly came to a halt.

"Oh, the commercial's over so soon? Then I'd better hurry." As he spoke, Wei Zhao glanced at the three blood spirit cats before him, then grinned at Senior Brother Yin. "You people all seem to like keeping cats, and each one's uglier than the last. But I'm different—the things I keep are far more classy than yours."

"What did you say!" Senior Brother Yin's expression changed. He thought Wei Zhao was merely bluffing, but then he suddenly heard a low, deep dragon's roar.

A flood dragon formed of five-element killing qi materialized out of thin air. Before the three blood spirit cats could retreat, it pounced and launched a merciless chase. It bit one to death, clawed another to death, and finished the third with a sweep of its tail. In the blink of an eye, all three blood spirit cats were slaughtered clean.

This was ordinary five-element killing qi, not the five-element eight-trigram killing qi, but using it against mere Foundation Establishment experts was absolute overkill. Only now, after his strength had surged, could Wei Zhao unleash it; half a month ago, with the power he had then, all the true qi in his body combined would not have been enough for a single stroke of five-element killing qi.

"You see? The class is just different. Next life, when you keep a pet, keep a fiercer one—that way you can actually scare people." Wei Zhao smiled faintly, then his figure flickered and appeared before Senior Brother Yin. At this moment, because the three blood spirit cats had been killed, the backlash on Senior Brother Yin's primordial spirit left him completely unable to react. Before Wei Zhao he was utterly defenseless, and was directly struck in the face by a Frenzied Fire Eight-Trigram Palm. On the spot, he followed in Sun Baimei's footsteps.

Sun Baimei on one side, Senior Brother Yin on the other—the two corpses had died in exactly the same manner. Fei Yangsheng was so terrified by the sight that he nearly wet himself. He had come along this time to take revenge and settle scores; who would have thought it would end like this?

Watching helplessly as Wei Zhao strode closer with an unfriendly look, Fei Yangsheng desperately wanted to turn and run, but his legs completely refused to obey. His whole body was shaking like a sieve, yet he could not move a single step.

"All right. Now it's your turn." Wei Zhao looked at Fei Yangsheng with a calm expression.

Thud! Fei Yangsheng dropped to his knees on the spot, kowtowing so hard that his head bled, and pleaded desperately in a tearful voice, "Spare me, Senior! Spare me, Senior! I was coerced by those two—I bear no ill will at all! A great man doesn't hold a petty man's faults against him—please, I beg you, spare my worthless life! I'll serve you like an ox or a horse! I'm not from the same sect as them, and I've never borne the slightest ill will toward you, Senior Primordial Spirit—it was all their coercion..."

Wei Zhao was somewhat taken aback. This thing was, after all, a Foundation Establishment mid-stage expert—how could he be so utterly spineless? Kneeling and begging for mercy, all in one smooth flow. With a temperament like that, how had he ever cultivated to his current realm?

Still, Wei Zhao had not originally intended to kill him outright. He still wanted to properly learn about the matters of the Ancient Little Jianghu from this creature's mouth. He gave a cold snort. "Answer a few of my questions truthfully. If I'm in a good mood, I might just spare your worthless life—it all depends on how you perform."

"Yes, yes! Whatever you wish to know, Senior, this humble one will surely tell all he knows and say all he can." Fei Yangsheng was overjoyed. He did not care in the least whether he was divulging intelligence; so long as he could stay alive, everything else was irrelevant.

"Very good. First question: where do you come from?" Wei Zhao asked, betraying no emotion.

"We come from the Ancient Little Jianghu—specifically, the Shennongjia region. There's a teleportation formation there that serves as the Ancient Passage, but that place can only last one year; after a year it closes." Fei Yangsheng indeed behaved very honestly.

Wei Zhao gave a slight nod. This answer had actually been given by Leng Leng before, only she had spoken hastily at the time and left him bewildered. Now, hearing Fei Yangsheng say it, he finally had a real grasp of the concept.

So the Ancient Little Jianghu could only be reached through a teleportation formation—no wonder the mortal world had never discovered it, and no wonder Leng Leng said she could only stay one year. Once the teleportation formation closed after a year, she certainly could not continue lingering in the mortal world.

"Second question: what are you doing in the mortal world?" Wei Zhao continued. This was also the question he had most wanted to clarify before; had it not been for this, he would never have gone to such lengths to approach Leng Leng, and none of the present series of events would have happened.

"Uh, it's because of the millennium-old sect trial of the Ancient era. Every sect in the Ancient Little Jianghu sends Foundation Establishment disciples into the mortal world for training, and at the same time to find new disciples for their sects. Though the mortal world's spiritual energy is thin, its population is vast—who knows, there might be a cultivation prodigy with a one-in-ten-thousand spiritual root aptitude." Eager to please Wei Zhao and preserve his life, Fei Yangsheng poured out everything he knew in one go, holding nothing back.

Wei Zhao watched his expression closely and knew the creature was not lying. He felt relieved. Since these people had only come out for training and incidentally to seek new disciples, they were not deliberately trying to disrupt the rules of the mortal world. Though there would inevitably be rule-breaking sorts like Sun Baimei, so long as it was not an all-out conflict, matters could still be discussed.

"Third question: how many of you are there in total, and what is the highest cultivation realm among you?" Wei Zhao continued.

"About sixty or seventy. As for the strongest, I'm not too clear, but I've heard it's likely Foundation Establishment Great Perfection. At least several sects' lead disciples are Foundation Establishment Great Perfection experts—that much is certain. These are all disciples who came out for training. As for training disciples stronger than that, maybe there are, maybe not, but they've certainly not been made public." Fei Yangsheng answered cautiously.

In the end, he was only an ordinary disciple. All he could know was this sort of widely known, surface-level information; as for deeper inside information, he had no way of learning it.

"Foundation Establishment Great Perfection..." Wei Zhao frowned slightly. Although his current primordial spirit body's strength could not really fight above its level, if it was only Foundation Establishment Great Perfection, he should still be able to handle it. But if it came to a Golden Core expert, that was another matter—after all, there was a fundamental gap between the Golden Core and Foundation Establishment stages, and in his current state it would not be so easy.

Still, whether there were any Golden Core experts among them remained unknown. From Fei Yangsheng's answer, most likely there were none, because these people had come out for training. Under normal circumstances, Foundation Establishment experts were already invincible, unmatched existences in the mortal world; Golden Core experts coming out would only be all the more invincible and lonely, with no training value to speak of. (To be continued.)
