Chapter 1063 — The Underground Racetrack

The Blossom Guardian

Besides, Wei Zhao had no wish to take things any further with Feng Xiaoxiao. It would hardly be fair to Tang Yun, after all. In Wei Zhao's eyes, his first woman was bound to be Tang Yun; Tang Yun had been the girlfriend he had first made things official with, and she occupied a very large place in his heart.

Of course, if Tang Yun were willing to play some sort of threesome with Feng Xiaoxiao, Wei Zhao would not have minded. He was not a conservative man; a conservative mind could never have made a killer.

"Xiaoxiao, what are you doing?" Wei Zhao felt obliged to remind Feng Xiaoxiao that they were in class right now.

"Heh heh, nothing. I just want night to come a little sooner! I'm so looking forward to it!" Feng Xiaoxiao had always wished time would go slower, for she had precious little of it left. But today she wished it would hurry up!

"Everything on the racing side, you've got it all arranged?" Wei Zhao asked. He could have made the arrangements for entering the underground racetrack through Zou Ruoming as well, but he was nowhere near as practiced at it as Feng Xiaoxiao was, and under ordinary circumstances he preferred not to go to Zou Ruoming at all.

"All arranged! I signed up ages ago! Even paid the deposit!" Feng Xiaoxiao said. "Tonight the very first race is ours!"

"Huh? You paid the deposit?" Wei Zhao was slightly taken aback. "Isn't it two hundred thousand per race? You have that kind of money?"

Wei Zhao knew the state of Feng Xiaoxiao's family, so her having paid the deposit rather puzzled him. Though Wei Zhao was certain of victory, the organizers had no way of knowing whether you would win; that was why every entrant had to put down a deposit of two hundred thousand, returned if you won and naturally forfeited if you lost.

"Don't forget, I just swindled five million out of that fool Wu Tieshou!" Feng Xiaoxiao said, rather pleased with herself.

Only then did Wei Zhao recall that Feng Xiaoxiao already had a fortune in hand!

The race was set for six in the evening, so the last evening self-study period was naturally out of the question. Wei Zhao told Tang Yun, the Young Miss, and Shen Yushu that he would be keeping Feng Xiaoxiao company that night, and then left the school with Feng Xiaoxiao.

Feng Xiaoxiao had packed her schoolbag long in advance, as though the whole purpose of her coming to school today had been to wait for this moment!

"Where are we going now?" Wei Zhao asked Feng Xiaoxiao once they were in the car.

"To the winding road up Bolong Mountain. That's paradise for the underground racers around here!" Feng Xiaoxiao said. "Do you know the place?"

"No idea." Wei Zhao shook his head. "Better let you drive."

Wei Zhao got out and gave up the driver's seat to Feng Xiaoxiao. Today he was driving Feng Xiaoxiao's Audi TT; they had swapped cars that morning in the compound of her estate.

Feng Xiaoxiao did not stand on ceremony. The road from here to Bolong Mountain was one she knew by heart!

Only, in the past she had always gone to watch the races, and had never once gone to take part in one!

Feng Xiaoxiao might find racing thrilling, but she knew exactly how much she was worth. Once she got out on the track, defeat was a foregone conclusion, and Feng Xiaoxiao did not have that kind of money to throw around!

Bolong Mountain was a small tourist spot near Songshan City. Because it could not make ends meet, it had shut down several years ago. The reason was simply this: there were far too many mountains around Songshan City. Newer developments such as Shuangyan Mountain were more scenic than Bolong Mountain, and the resort built there was brand new, with better lodging and dining besides. So naturally no one went to Bolong Mountain anymore, and the scenic spot had no choice but to close!

But though the scenic spot had closed, the winding mountain road was still there. It had gone unrepaired for years, some of the guardrails were gone, and the surface of the road was not in the best shape either. Yet the road served no purpose except to carry you to the summit of Bolong Mountain, and since every business here had pulled out, who was going to spend money to fix it?

Feng Xiaoxiao drove up to the open ground at the foot of Bolong Mountain. It was already packed with every kind of vehicle, of every caliber imaginable, from the cheapest Alto to the finest world-famous sports cars.

And beside the cars on that open ground, small knots of people had gathered here and there, each chatting, drinking, and chasing girls in their own little circle.

Most of them were men and women in garish getups, their hair strange and outlandish, just like Feng Xiaoxiao used to be.

At the sight of these non-mainstream types, Wei Zhao could not help frowning. To speak plainly, he had little fondness for these wild boys and girls. Instead of studying properly, they came out here to race cars. Was that any way to repay the parents at home?

But then again, many of them had been pampered and spoiled at home. If their parents did not give them money, what would they use to buy cars?

Of course, besides these non-mainstream boys and girls, there were also middle-aged men who were plainly of the gang-boss variety, their heads shaved or cropped to a buzz cut, wearing tank tops, tattoos covering both arms, looking every inch the underworld sort.

Birds of a feather flock together. There was also a small circle made up of top-tier sports car owners, and these were truly respectable members of society, impeccably turned out. Among them were white-collar workers from big companies and genuine scions of wealthy families. Without question, these people too had come looking for thrills.

Feng Xiaoxiao's car was neither the worst of them nor a particularly good one, so when it rolled onto the open ground it drew no attention at all. Only a few non-mainstream types who recognized the car came over.

"Sister Feng, you're here!" The speaker was the trendy non-mainstream youth who had once snapped a photograph of Wei Zhao on the commercial street.

"Mm," Feng Xiaoxiao nodded. "Everything arranged?"

"Yes, Sister Feng. I've talked it all over with Brother Dakeng. The first race is yours, Sister Feng!" the trendy youth said hurriedly. Brother Dakeng was the organizer of the underground races, said to have some underworld connections, and in Songshan City he was a somebody!

To Wei Zhao, of course, all of that was trash. He could torment the likes of Li Cihua whenever he pleased, to say nothing of a Brother Dakeng with only "some" underworld connections. It was simply that Wei Zhao did not care to bother with him. Two hundred thousand was a trifling sum to Wei Zhao, and he could not be bothered to go find this Brother Dakeng and break the rules.

"Who's my opponent?" Feng Xiaoxiao asked with a nod. Wearing sunglasses, she looked every bit the big sister boss, which struck Wei Zhao as rather funny.

"By the usual custom, it should be a rookie as well. Sister Feng, I don't mean to look down on you. It's just that this is your first race too..." the trendy youth hurriedly explained.
