Chapter 1237 — Even a Flawless Plan Loses: The Long Saber Sinks Into His Body, and Wei Zhao Slowly Topples Forward!

The Blossom Guardian

"Hahahaha! What a lovesick boy — oh, this is just too good!" Watching Wei Zhao drive the knife into his own heart, the man laughed with wild abandon. But he had not laughed twice before that wild laughter broke off short.

Not only did the laughter stop — the man discovered, to his astonishment, that his mouth would not close, his tongue would not move, and not a single part of his body would obey him.

He sat there on the sofa as though frozen by some immobilizing spell, unable even to move his eyes. Every nerve in him had failed; it seemed no part of him could stir.

And yet the Wei Zhao who had been slowly toppling forward suddenly straightened and stood up.

The long saber was still lodged in Wei Zhao's chest. He did not hurry to pull it out. Instead he looked at the man before him with a smile, with the same contemptuous gaze the man had worn earlier, and said mildly, "What's this? Can't move? You wanted to take poison and end yourself, and now you can't even do that, can you? Because your tongue won't move either, right? There's not a spot on you that will move, is there? Strange, isn't it?"

The man could not speak, but the shock in his eyes told Wei Zhao he had struck the truth.

Wei Zhao did not hurry to explain, though. He walked over and pulled the towel from Feng Xiaoxiao's mouth.

The first thing Feng Xiaoxiao said, once she could speak again, was a cry: "Wei Zhao — husband — the saber in your chest ..."

"Heh. Xiaoxiao, your husband doesn't die that easily. I was fooling this thing earlier. He was playing with me — and wasn't I playing with him?" Wei Zhao glanced at the man and said mockingly, "Idiot. I deliberately let you see that I was acting. Didn't you notice? If I had no tricks at all, would I be out of my mind enough to come up here and throw my life away?"

Fury spurted from the man's eyes as though he would burn Wei Zhao alive — but he could not move, not one bit.

"You're furious now, tense. Your heart's beating fast. So the explosives still can't go off." Wei Zhao watched him mildly.

"Hff ..." The man blew out a breath. Hearing Wei Zhao's words, he tried with all his might to calm himself, to slow his heartbeat, so that he might blow Wei Zhao to pieces.

But Wei Zhao flicked his wrist, and a silver needle flew into the man's body — and the man's heart began to beat fast and hard.

"Sorry. I studied medicine." Wei Zhao shrugged innocently. "This needle of mine is more effective than a cardiac stimulant. For a short while, your heart is going to function exceptionally well."

The man was about to explode with rage, but now he finally understood what Feng Xiaoxiao had felt a moment ago — unable to move, unable to speak.

"Thank you for telling me where the poison is in your mouth, and for telling me the secret of how you trigger the remote." Wei Zhao smiled. "If you hadn't told me yourself, I wouldn't have known where to start. Now it's fine — you said it all yourself, and saved me a great deal of trouble. Regretting it, are you? Still want to play with my wife? Let's see who's playing whom now."

"Hmph. But there's no medicine for regret in this world. Regret won't help you now. Running into a man as formidable as my husband means only one road: death." Feng Xiaoxiao cut in smugly.

Wei Zhao and Feng Xiaoxiao, one line each, gave the man back nearly every boastful word he had spoken before. It made him so furious he was ready to burst.

"Hff —" The man blew out another breath, his eyes blazing with fury.

Wei Zhao paid him no mind. He quickly dug a small poison capsule out of the man's mouth and tossed it carelessly onto the floor. "A moment ago you wanted to bite down and kill me, didn't you? Unfortunately, I've sealed your acupoints. You can't move."

Earlier, the instant Wei Zhao's body had fallen, a bundle of silver needles had flown from his hand and struck exactly the acupoints on the man's body.

The instant Wei Zhao fell was the moment the man's nerves were most relaxed. His mind had been swept away by the thrill of Wei Zhao's death, and for that moment he had forgotten all caution.

And a man whose heart had been run through was, in the man's eyes, already a dead man; that he should drop all guard was only natural. But what he had never imagined was that with a long saber through his chest — a saber that had pierced both his heart and his whole chest cavity — Wei Zhao had not died.

Not only had he not died, he could still seal the man's acupoints with silver needles, and chat and laugh as though nothing had happened.

If not for the long saber still in Wei Zhao's body, the man would have thought he was watching a magic trick.

"All right. You can talk now." Wei Zhao casually removed one of the silver needles from the man, restoring his power of speech.

"Impossible. This is impossible! Why aren't you dead?" The man stared at Wei Zhao with a face full of resentment and disbelief, and asked the question he most wanted answered.

"You mean this saber?" Wei Zhao smiled slightly and drew the long saber out of his body. And the wound it had left on his chest did not spurt blood — instead it slowly closed, at a rate visible to the naked eye.

"No ... impossible! You're not human!" The man stared at the change in Wei Zhao's body, his eyes wide with terror. Was this still a man? The wound had healed in an instant — how was that possible?

"I'm a cultivator — at the peak of the mid Mystic Rank." Wei Zhao seemed to find the man a little easily amazed. "Of course, I'm a bit stronger than other cultivators. I can repair injuries inside my own body. For instance, stick a knife in my heart — as long as it hasn't been minced, I can repair it, no problem at all. So next time, you should order me to mince my heart ... but there won't be a next time. And even if you did make me mince my heart, I'd repair it as I minced it. As long as my healing keeps up, it's still no problem."

"You ... you're a madman!" This time the man was utterly convinced. His plan had been flawless, yet he had overlooked the other man's inhuman constitution. Against such a person, losing was no injustice. Still, the man said, "You don't dare kill me. Do you dare? If I die, you all die too!"

"Ah, I was just about to deal with that." Wei Zhao said mildly. "You know too much. To keep you quiet, I have no choice but to finish you off."

With that, Wei Zhao picked up the long saber and cut straight, cleanly, across the man's chest. For a Wei Zhao of such surgical skill, it was no different from a simple operation.
