Chapter 5058 — Starmoon Charcoal

The Blossom Guardian Page 1 of 2

A thing that even Cloud Terrace Island could not necessarily obtain had actually appeared in the mortal world—truly beyond belief. After all, this was a peerless treasure used to consolidate one's divine sense, and an incomparable aid for breaking through to the Overlord realm. Only one who obtained this thing would have a chance at becoming a perfect Overlord expert!

Yet a treasure of such high grade had appeared in the mortal world, and had actually been handed to a mere Foundation Establishment expert to consolidate her divine sense and assault the Golden Core—if someone knowledgeable like Gui Dongxi knew of this, he would laugh his teeth out. To say nothing of mere Foundation Establishment and Golden Core; even a Nascent Soul expert's divine sense was third-rate. What use would they have for Starmoon Charcoal?

It was like a primary school student who had not yet fully mastered the four arithmetic operations suddenly being handed a university-level advanced mathematics workbook, told that if he worked through the problems in it his grades would improve. This was not merely absurd—it was downright harmful!

Once such a primary student actually opened that advanced mathematics workbook, normally only two outcomes were possible: either his study of even the most basic arithmetic would be affected, or he would simply be scared stiff by the abstruse and incomprehensible higher mathematics, and his whole self would go to pieces.

Yet sometimes a third kind of person appeared—one who, after beholding the vastness and profundity of higher mathematics, could still keep his original heart. Not only was he not frightened off, he became all the more determined to strive upward, and thus learned better and faster than the others. Such people, however, were ultimately very rare, for they were what ordinary folk called geniuses.

In matters of divine sense, a Foundation Establishment expert like Leng Leng was a primary school student, while Wei Zhao—a cultivator of the early Xuan Ascension stage whose divine sense was abnormally powerful—was at least already a high school student. To obtain the Starmoon Charcoal at this moment was neither too early nor too late; the timing could be called just right.

Especially since his spirit-body had now suffered severe damage and was in urgent need of rapid replenishment of divine sense energy; only thus could the spirit-body be stabilized once more. This piece of Starmoon Charcoal was truly charcoal sent in snowy weather—the divine sense energy it contained was more than ample to supply Wei Zhao.

Wei Zhao was instantly overjoyed and without the slightest hesitation sat down cross-legged. There and then he began absorbing the divine sense energy within the Starmoon Charcoal. If all went smoothly, he would not even need to dissolve his spirit-body and return to Cloud Terrace Island—he could recover right here!

Such a thing a Foundation Establishment expert could not do, nor would dare to do. To say nothing of Leng Leng—even Sun Baimei, who specialized in cultivating his spirit-origin, would not dare, or else that immense divine sense energy would instantly crush his spirit-origin; even if he did not die, he would become an idiot.

But Wei Zhao did not mind. So long as he maintained his original heart and did not give in to greed or rash advance, he could fully refine this divine sense energy into a part of his own spirit-origin without suffering any adverse interference. Of course, this process was easier said than done; in practice it remained exceedingly difficult and complex.

Had it been possible, Wei Zhao would certainly have sought a safer, more secluded place, but now he could not concern himself with anything else. Perhaps before he even found a place he would collapse ahead of time; he could only stay in the room and take the risk.

In cultivation there is no count of years; Wei Zhao sat thus, and how long passed he did not know. Only when he faintly sensed several auras entering the residential compound's bounds—auras that made him wary—did Wei Zhao abruptly open both eyes, sharp light shooting forth in all directions!

Originally his spirit-body had been on the verge of collapse, liable to dissolve into nothingness at any moment, but now his spirit-body had unknowingly become solid and weighty once more. Not only that, his whole body radiated an intimidating presence—compared to before, he had actually grown even more powerful!

"Truly a rare treasure hard to find in this world—this feeling is genuinely fine!" Wei Zhao put away the Starmoon Charcoal and, clear-headed and refreshed, flexed his fists and feet. Facing those several powerful auras drawing ever closer, he was utterly unconcerned, and simply remained in the room waiting.

Through his divine sense Wei Zhao could clearly probe the newcomers. There were three in total—as expected, Sun Baimei and Fei Yangsheng. As for the other, he was a cold-faced middle-aged man whose aura faintly resembled Sun Baimei's; to Wei Zhao's senses, he was likely cast from the same mold.

In the blink of an eye the three had arrived downstairs from the compound. Sun Baimei's and Fei Yangsheng's injuries appeared to have healed seven or eight parts, while the middle-aged man they had brought along possessed an even stronger presence than Sun Baimei—a peak expert of the late Foundation Establishment stage.

"Senior Brother Yin, I truly feel bad calling you all this way from so far off, but I, your junior brother, have really run into trouble and had no choice but to ask for your help," Sun Baimei said as he walked.

Originally, with his and Fei Yangsheng's strength—one late Foundation Establishment expert plus one mid Foundation Establishment expert—dealing with Wei Zhao and Leng Leng ought to have been more than enough. But last time they had suffered a heavy loss and nearly forfeited their lives; even now, recalling it, their hearts still quailed.

In their view Wei Zhao and Leng Leng were simply reckless madmen, and the two of them alone would find it hard to deal with this pair—to retreat unscathed was sheer delusion. Especially since last time Sun Baimei had lost his prized Blood Spirit Cat, his strongest means of restraining spirit-origin entities; thus, facing Wei Zhao, he felt even less sure.

So after long deliberation, for safety's sake, he had finally invited this Senior Brother Yin. Though this inevitably meant letting the other take a share, at most he would have to split Wei Zhao's spirit-origin with him. As for that treasure on Leng Leng's person—so long as Sun Baimei did not speak of it, how would Senior Brother Yin ever know?

"You said in your letter that you encountered a powerful spirit-origin, and that this spirit-origin could materialize, with strength comparable to a peak early Foundation Establishment expert?" Senior Brother Yin asked gravely, a hint of indescribable excitement at the corner of his eyes.

He and Sun Baimei had studied under the same master and cultivated the same method; spirit-origin entities were of great use to Sun Baimei, and naturally to him as well. Otherwise, why would he have traveled a thousand li to come here specially? One must know that between these senior and junior brothers there existed both open and hidden rivalry—they were not so intimate and harmonious as they appeared.

"Indeed, and the thing has even taken up with Leng Leng. Last time it was the two of them joining forces to ambush me and Brother Fei; we were badly wounded and nearly fell into their trap!" Sun Baimei complained bitterly.

"Leng Leng? The woman said to have exceptional aptitude and the greatest hope of breaking through to the Golden Core stage?" Senior Brother Yin was startled, then stroked his chin and asked, "I hear she is a rare beauty—how would she take up with a spirit-origin? And besides, why would they ambush you for no reason at all?"
