Chapter 60 — A Small Clash
Years of Heartflutter Page 2 of 2
The man might be a mediocrity, but if he went and poisoned Vice President Yi's ear against him, his days as general manager of this mall would be over. After all, the man was practically royalty, and his word carried far more weight than anyone's.
Besides, this position of his came with rich pickings. There were at least eight or ten people in the group eyeing it, all of them praying he would stumble soon so they could take his place.
And yet Zhu Wanli had not climbed to his current position without backing of his own within the group. Wu Fugui, chairman of Xinheng Group, was his patron—though theirs was little more than a warm friendship. If Vice President Yi truly set his mind to bringing him down, Wu Fugui might not step forward to protect him.
So Zhu Wanli hesitated. Everyone said Yi Chuncai was a walking disaster who could not be left in peace no matter which subsidiary of the group he landed in, and every single time he stirred up pandemonium. Now it seemed the saying had not been a word off the mark.
"What good would calling the police do? Get the security guards up there to beat him. Beat him to death, and I'll answer for whatever happens," Yi Chuncai said carelessly.
"This—" Sweat poured down Zhu Wanli's forehead. Was this not shoving him straight into the fire pit? If the news media got wind of this, he would be the first to lose his post.
"Damn it, you lot all know who I am, don't you?" Yi Chuncai jabbed a finger at the security guards behind him. "Get up there and beat him for me!"
The guards exchanged glances. They could tell the man before them outranked their boss, but without word from the boss himself, none of them dared to make a reckless move.
Seeing the guards hold back, Yi Chuncai grew immediately impatient. "Get up there! Anyone who doesn't goes and packs his bags tomorrow, out on his ear. Whoever does it gets a thousand yuan bonus each!"
To be continued.
