Chapter 219 — Panic
Years of Heartflutter Page 2 of 2
Li Shu went to check on Li Lexin, though he understood full well that her injuries were beyond his help. He could only comfort her, raise her pay, and tell her to rest and recover in peace.
Li Lexin had assumed Victoria was as good as dead, and that thought had lifted her spirits a little. But when she saw with her own eyes that Victoria was being carried away by paramedics for emergency treatment, rather than being stuffed into some bag and tossed out like the other slaves who fell in the ring, her mood soured again.
In her view, Victoria was a slave no matter how you looked at it. Even if they revived her, whether she could ever stand again like a normal person was doubtful, let alone fight in the ring again.
Yet someone had actually gone and saved Victoria.
To Li Lexin, this was a humiliation beyond bearing. No one who had insulted and trampled on her had ever lived on in this world. Deep in her heart she quietly planted the seed of hatred, resolving to kill Victoria and be done with it.
But not now. Now she had to heal her wounds. Once they were healed, there would be plenty of chances, wouldn't there?
Yang Ce toyed with the remote in his hand. Bobby had sent it through an intermediary, saying it could detonate a time bomb inside Victoria's body. Yang Ce had never imagined there was such a device implanted in her.
Li Qiang and General Karls were both puzzled. Why was Yang Ce so interested in a female slave? Yet neither of them felt it proper to ask. Even Huang Yan had not asked, so what business did they have?
So they could only carry out the tasks Heng assigned them, step by step, and once done, they kept silent and stayed at Yang Ce's side.
"Mr. Yang, the thing has been taken out." General Karls took a small component sealed in a plastic bag from one of his men and handed it to Yang Juehuan.
"This is the thing?" Yang Ce took the bag and studied the contents with keen interest. It was a very small and finely made device; whether it was actually a bomb, he could not tell.
