Chapter 5271 — Sealed Away

The Blossom Guardian

"What are these world laws?" Wei Zhao was caught off guard by the question.

"Huh? Aren't they?" The Guardian of the Sleeping Lotus was equally taken aback.

Beside them, Duanmu Yu was utterly bewildered. What on earth were these two talking about?

"You can tell me about it. Who knows, you might be right," Wei Zhao said, genuinely intrigued by this term he had never heard before.

"Hmph, I must have been mistaken. It's nothing but a vague, baseless legend. There are no world laws at all. You must have used some unspeakable, crooked trick—yes, that must be it!" The Guardian of the Sleeping Lotus hurriedly changed its tune.

"Heh, you're even resorting to provocation now. Since you want to know so badly, I'll take pity and tell you." Wei Zhao smiled faintly and said outright, "This space is the world I rule. I know nothing of any world laws, but within this space, I can split it into as many pieces as I wish. Dismembering your mirror world took nothing more than a single thought from me."

This was no empty boast. Put plainly, Wei Zhao had simply drawn it into his jade pendant space. Yet though he was nominally its master, his actual control over the pendant space amounted to just one crude method: splitting space.

And yet this simple, almost mindless technique could, at this moment, unleash lethal power. Crushing the opponent's mirror world was child's play; were Wei Zhao truly inclined to try, he could likely dismember the Sleeping Lotus's original body with equal ease.

"You... how did you even get me in here?" The Guardian of the Sleeping Lotus remained half in doubt, still clinging to a last sliver of hope that this was all Wei Zhao's bluff—that way it might still have a chance to turn things around. Otherwise, if what Wei Zhao said was true, it would truly be at the mercy of others.

"Oh, didn't you say so yourself? You're nothing but a medicinal herb! This place of mine may not be convenient for other things, but for collecting medicinal herbs, it never misses. Put plainly, I am the absolute nemesis of beings like you. Seeing as you didn't go straight for the kill just now, I'd advise you to accept your fate quickly—that way you'll save yourself a bit of suffering." Wei Zhao chuckled.

This was the source of Wei Zhao's confidence. No matter how inexplicable or invincible the Guardian of the Sleeping Lotus might be, so long as it was a plant, the pendant space was destined to draw it in with ease. And once inside the pendant space, it was Wei Zhao's own territory—there was truly nothing to fear.

The Guardian of the Sleeping Lotus knew its situation was dire, but it would not be so easily frightened. Even if its proudest Mirror Flower, Water Moon had been utterly shattered, it still had its self-protecting art, the Calm Ancient Well, which could keep it undefeated in any time or place. Above all, its level of power was at least ten streets ahead of Wei Zhao's. What did it have to fear?!

"Human, you're far too naive. You think that's enough to make me accept my fate? On what grounds?" The Guardian of the Sleeping Lotus sneered. Seizing the instant when Wei Zhao was distracted by its words, it struck without hesitation—four clones launching at Wei Zhao simultaneously, none before another. Though these clones might be somewhat lacking against a formidable existence on the level of the Brain-Eating Worm, they were more than enough to deal with Wei Zhao.

Watching this, Duanmu Yu's heart leaped into her throat. Matters had come this far, and she had thought they could finally breathe easy. She had never expected the Guardian of the Sleeping Lotus to launch such an ungraceful sneak attack—it seemed it truly had been driven to desperation.

Yet Wei Zhao stood utterly motionless before it all, not even deigning to blink. The four clones could not get anywhere near him; with a single thought he isolated them in separate spaces, and no matter how they struggled, it was futile. As the saying went, within this space Wei Zhao was the sole sovereign.

The Guardian of the Sleeping Lotus was instantly dumbfounded, yet it still refused to believe. This time, it transformed its entire original body into human form and lunged in a frenzy. Unfortunately, its fate was identical to that of its four clones—no matter how wildly it struggled, it simply could not break free of the isolated space Wei Zhao had carved out for it.

"You fool, weren't you acting all high and mighty just now?" Wei Zhao said with amusement. Until this moment, the other party had held itself aloof, toying with him and Duanmu Yu in the palm of its hand. Now it was time for a change of position.

"How can this be..." The Guardian of the Sleeping Lotus exhausted every trick it had, yet still could not move. Now, even if it refused to give up, there was nothing it could do. More importantly, it had finally confirmed one thing: this was indeed a true, tangible space. The implications alone were enough to make one shudder—its origin was perhaps even more terrifying than that of the great one itself. Just what kind of mighty being was this human?

Wei Zhao watched the creature gasping for breath and smiled without a word. He thought to himself that he was fortunate to have this pendant space, which happened to be the perfect counter to the other party. Otherwise, he truly would have had no way to deal with it, and today would have ended in disaster.

Duanmu Yu, standing to the side, grew ever more mystified and awed. In her mind, Wei Zhao's image had become profoundly unfathomable; his endless array of wondrous methods was truly impossible to grasp.

"You... you shameless adulterous pair... don't push people too far!" The Guardian of the Sleeping Lotus pointed at Wei Zhao and Duanmu Yu in a fit of fury.

"Push people too far? That's a bit much, isn't it? You did this to us just now, and now I'm merely doing the same to you. I've only shut you away—I haven't even sliced you up for study yet. We're still far from pushing anyone too far. One step at a time," Wei Zhao said lightly, completely at ease.

"Slice me up for study?" The Guardian of the Sleeping Lotus's eyelid twitched in fright. Before this, it would never have taken such boastful nonsense seriously—but not now. In its eyes, Wei Zhao was already a legendary mighty being capable of controlling space. If he truly meant to slice it up, it would likely take but a single thought.

"Indeed. From the perspective of a medicinal herb, you must surely rank as a rare treasure of heaven and earth, hard to find in this world. Once sliced up, you'd probably fetch a sky-high price," Wei Zhao threatened with a chuckle.

"No, no, no... please, anything but that..." This time the Guardian of the Sleeping Lotus was truly frightened. It hurriedly turned to Duanmu Yu and said, "My lady, I have treated you kindly these past few days, haven't I? For the sake of our brief time as husband and wife, won't you ask him to show mercy and let me go?" (To be continued.)
