Chapter 75 — Interrogation

Years of Heartflutter Page 1 of 2

Because of my cold and fever these past few days, my head has been all foggy, and I overlooked the problem with the BMW's brakes—it was a few readers who reminded Old Yu, haha. Please forgive the slow updates these past days; Old Yu truly did not want it this way, but with my mind unclear, typing is dreadfully slow, and often a single sentence takes me half a day to think through. Ah, my thinking is sluggish—once I'm well, I'll definitely make it up with a burst of output.

"Get someone to fix the car. We'll take another one," Yang Linyue instructed flatly.

"Got it." Hou Lin nodded and called one of his underlings, telling him to send a car over to pick them up.

Because there was an unconscious Wu Ming, Yang Ce and the others could not take a taxi back—that would draw suspicion—so they had no choice but to wait for the underling to drive over.

Fortunately, this place was not far from Nightless Sky, and especially since Hou Lin had given the order personally, the underling did not dare delay; he sped all the way to the gates of Tianzixiao City.

It turned out to be Hou Lin's old junked Jetta. Yang Jincong laughed—after all that, no ride in the BMW, and in the end they wound up in this car anyway. Hou Lin was a little embarrassed too: "Brother Yang, once the BMW is fixed, you take it for a couple of days."

"No need. I'm planning to buy a car in a few days anyway." Yang Ce waved his hand. "I'm still in school—driving a BMW around campus would just make me a target for envy."

"That's true enough," Hou Lin nodded.

Songjiang Engineering University counted as a prestigious school within the province, but few students actually drove to campus—not like those internet fantasies where Lamborghinis, Ferraris, Porsches, and Rolls-Royces filled the sky. Someone like Wang Lin, who could drive a Honda Accord, already came from a seriously wealthy family.

Most of the other students who drove had cheap cars—Honda Fits, Hafei Saimas, Swifts, BYDs, and the like. Drive a Mercedes or a BMW to school and you would probably be famous across campus by the next day.

Yang Ce was already conspicuous enough at school; he did not want to draw any more attention in that regard.

Once in the car, Hou Lin drove, and the three of them headed toward Nightless Sky. As for the BMW X5, they had the underling contact a 4S dealership's tow truck.

Along the way, Yang Ce did not speak, and naturally Hou Lin could say even less. It was Bao Lin who was stifled to death—he wanted to ask questions, but Hou Lin kept silent the whole way, so Bao Lin could hardly press further.

Bao Lin had originally wanted to ask Yang Juehuan, but seeing how utterly respectful Hou Lin was toward Yang Ce, he could not for the moment pin down Yang Juehuan's identity. Still, from Hou Lin's attitude it was obvious that he was not being polite—his deference to Yang Ce was genuine. Bao Lin was respectful to Yang Shuoxuan as well, but that was different; that was mere courtesy.

Back at Nightless Sky, Yang Shuoxuan offered no lengthy explanation. He simply said to Hou Lin, "Find an empty room. I want to interrogate this Wu Ming."

"Yes, Brother Yang." Hou Lin nodded and immediately ordered an underling over to see to it. Nightless Sky lacked many things, but empty rooms it had in abundance.

They picked a room at random, threw Wu Ming inside, and then Yang Ce, Hou Lin, and Bao Lin all entered together.

"Da Hou, close the door." Yang Yongjin did not want the rest of the gang to know his business.

Hou Lin obeyed and shut the door, locking it from the inside. Bao Lin looked all the more baffled, and finally could not hold back: "Brother Hou, Brother Yang—what kind of show are you two putting on here?"

Yang Hengye smiled and did not answer, but Hou Lin patted Bao Lin on the shoulder: "Patience. You'll understand in a moment."

Hearing this, Bao Lin knew there was no use pressing further. He could only watch and wait, observing how things unfolded.

"Should I have someone bring a bucket of cold water to wake him up?" Hou Lin asked.

"No need." Yang Ce shook his head, glanced at the motionless Wu Ming on the floor, then abruptly raised his foot and kicked—landing squarely on one of Wu Ming's acupoints.

It was not a fatal point, merely one that helped an unconscious person wake faster—though if too much force was applied, that was another matter entirely.

Yang Cenbin's kick carried no small amount of force. Wu Ming came to—and the pain was savage. With a howl he woke, then clenched his jaw and made no further sound of suffering.

It seemed Wu Ming's endurance was impressive as well. That scream upon waking had been purely instinctive; once fully conscious, he shut his mouth, and even in agony he made no sound at all.

"What's your name?" Yang Ce casually dragged a chair over, sat down in front of Wu Ming, and crossed his legs as he asked.

"Hmph." Wu Ming gave a low snort, lowered his head, and ignored Yang Juehuan's question.

"What, you don't want to talk?" Yang Hengye smiled and looked at Wu Ming. "I have ten thousand ways to make you talk—but I don't want to use them."

"If you've got the guts, just kill me," Wu Ming said bluntly, hard as nails. In truth, Wu Ming understood perfectly well: if he betrayed the organization, then even if he went back he would be a dead man walking. Given the Black Widow's ways, she would never let him live. Never mind that she usually seemed soft and mild, easy to talk to—if she truly flew into a rage, he could only wait to die.

"Ha." Yang Xutang could not help laughing. "Kill you? That's easy. Who do you think you are, Wu Ming? I'd say you're Nameless. Don't think you can fool me just by picking some random name."

"..." Wu Ming paused, then said, "So what if you know? I'm Nameless. I forgot my own name long ago. Hahahahaha—"

"Actually, whether you tell me your name or not makes no difference to me. A name is just a code. Even if I knew your real name, what of it?" Yang Xu gave a nonchalant shrug. "Fine, for now I'll call you Wu Ming. So then—tell me about this so-called organization behind you."

"..." This time Wu Ming could not even be bothered to open his mouth. He simply closed his eyes, wearing the look of a dead pig that no longer fears boiling water.

"Brother Yang, want me to give him a little taste of something? This kid's got a hard mouth," Hou Lin said in a low voice, bowing slightly toward Yang Ce.

"Yes, go ahead." Yang Yuting nodded.

Hou Lin chuckled, stepped in front of Wu Ming, and set straight to work tormenting his body—things like "Chang'e Flying to the Moon" and "the Helicopter"—giving the boy Wu Ming a thorough going-over.

But Wu Ming endured the pain without a sound. Hou Lin wanted to escalate the force, but Yang Jiyan waved a hand: "Forget it. He won't bite on this. Even if you beat him to death, it's useless."

Yang Shuoxuan could see it: Wu Ming's willpower was strong. Simply inflicting physical pain would not break him. This fellow seemed to be in a line of work similar to his own—an assassin type—which meant his mouth would be tight, and he would not easily spill anything useful.

"I don't believe it. Break his legs and he'll still refuse to talk?" Bao Lin glared, somewhat dismissive.

"Brother Bao, say no more. Brother Yang surely has a way," Hou Lin said, shaking his head at Bao Lin.

"Ah—all right." Bao Lin could also see how deeply Hou Lin respected Yang Ce, and hearing Hou Lin say this now, he sensibly nodded and said no more.

Yang Ce bent over Wu Ming, looking down at him, and a wicked smile spread across his face: "Not talking, are you? I gave you a chance and you didn't cherish it. Then enjoy yourself now."
